ရဟန်း a Buddhist monk ; fr. P. အရဟံ venerable.

ပုထုဇန် P. ပုထုဇ္ဇနော an ordinary man, a worldling: has here the sense of unconverted.' 

ဥက္ခေါင်း head,i. e. the smallest imaginable portion. ส่วนที่เล็กที่สุดเท่าที่จะเป็นไปได้

ဆော် to stimulate กระตุ้น,ปลุกเร้า,เร้าเอารมณ์,ชูกำลัง,จุดประกาย

သမါဓိ မ တည် not being firm in a right courseไม่มั่นคงในวิถีทางที่ถูกต้อง

အဘယ် မည် သော ဝတ္ထု လျှင် what sort of thing, indeed ; เป็นอะไรกันแน่เนี่ย ;

ကရား a  pitcher with a spout. เหยือกที่มีพวยกา

ကရားသို့ the spout of the pitcher. รางน้ำของเหยือก

ညိ or ငြိ to be caught in.

အံ့ဘွယ် သရဲ ရှိ စွာ တကား this is very wonderful indeed; นี่มันวิเศษมากจริงๆ

ယခု မျက် မှောက် ၌ now before my eyes ; ตอนนี้ต่อหน้าต่อตาฉัน

မ ဟုပ် ထုံ လော is it not ? มันไม่ใช่ ?

ဆင် ထက်  above an elephant, 

အရှင် ကုမာရကဿပ အား နှစ်လုံး သွင်း စေ ချင် ၍ desiring to impress it on the heart of the reverend  Kumāra Kassapa. 

ปรารถนาจะประทับในดวงใจของพระกุมารกัสสปะ

စိမ့် သော ငှါ for စေ အံ့ သော ငှါ  for the purpose of causing
